Art challenges

Participating in art challenges (there are so many out there) or creating your own art challenges are perfect ways to study a subject in a fun way. At the end of 2024 (after several “failed” attempts), I started to integrate art challenges into my art routine, and I now use them as a place to experiment and grow!

52-week of landscapes (2024-2025)

In November 2024, just after Inktober, one art friend offered to continue maintaing a regular art practice. I had an unused square format Etchr sketchbook (hot pressed watercolor paper), with 52 pages. I thought it would be a nice place to practise my landscapes in a fun way. I created a folder with 52 photographs from my past travels, and different places close to my heart. And every week, I make one of these landscapes in gouache in the sketchbook!

Inktober 2024

Inktober is a fun one-month challenge that can help you build an (almost) daily art habit. My first try at Inktober dates back from 2023, and was frankly not a great success. I felt limited by the prompts rather than helped. In 2024, I tried to use weekly prompts that were closer to by comfort subjects, and it was such an enjoyable experience!  Everything was drawned from my own reference photos.
